Captain's Training
You’ll learn to captain your new vessel like a pro with Marine Concepts’ unique Captain’s Training program.

Boat owners tend to move up to larger vessels every few years, so Marine Concepts provides specialized training to help purchasers handle their latest acquisition. One of our three licensed captains will spend six to eight hours with you to ensure that you are comfortable with the particulars of your new boat, reviewing systems such as electronics, A/C and heat, galley panels, electric/generator hook-ups, and head and water systems, all of which can differ from boat to boat. Our captains also review and practice docking the boat with you – hands-on training that can save you thousands of dollars of expense associated with accidents such as hitting a dock and damaging your hull. They’ll also take you beyond the dock to show you how to navigate your new boat and read the electronics while underway.
We know that boating is a family experience for most people, so we encourage spouses and anyone else in the family who may be using the boat to participate in training. No matter who is in the pilot’s seat, everyone on board should know how to use the VHF radio in case of emergency, how to get back to dock, or how to provide emergency personnel with a location.
Safety for all passengers is Marine Concept’s primary concern.
Insurance
Marine Concepts streamlines the process of insuring your new boat. We’ll provide an application just after survey to help you determine the appropriate coverage for you and your vessel. Coast Guard Documentation and Registration
Coast Guard documentation and state registration is a requirement – without it you cannot be on the water legally. Marine Concepts has a full understanding of all the necessary registrations and documentations, and we’ll make sure you have the paperwork you need. We will need:
- Obtain the seller’s Coast Guard “Bill of Sales” signature.
- File the application for transfer of ownership with the Coast Guard.
- Track the information through the Coast Guard.
- Provide a “running package” – your temporary paperwork until your official documents arrive by mail.
For smaller boats, we also handle Department of Game and Inland Fisheries registration and filing to ensure that the title is completed quickly and correctly.
Warranties
The costs associated with unforeseen repairs can take the fun out of boat ownership, so Marine Concepts offers a choice of two extended warranty companies.
You may also be pleased to discover that our warranties cover boats up to twelve years old, taking the worry out of purchasing a pre-enjoyed boat and extending your ability to truly enjoy yourself on the water. Extended warranties can cover almost any system on your boat from engines, electronics, generators, and even the trailer. In addition to saving thousands on a pre-enjoyed boat, you’ll gain invaluable peace of mind.
